SFD’s Regional Communications Center is the heart of dispatching for 911, fire, and EMS services in all of the Verde Valley.
The Sedona Regional Communications Center provides dispatching services not only for SFD, but also for Camp Verde, Montezuma-Rimrock, Pinewood, Mayer, Black Canyon City, Verde Valley Fire District, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, the Jerome Fire Departments, and the Verde Valley Ambulance Company. The Center also coordinates mutual aid between all other communications centers in Coconino and Yavapai Counties (Region III). It is also the only primary 911 “public safety answering point” (PSAP) fire agency in Arizona.
A state-of-the-art facility, the Center uses a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to track equipment availability, call information, and staffing for each agency, producing accurate records of each incident. It also employs professional communications specialists who help callers until the responding units arrive on scene. These specialists must be certified in both CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) and EMD (emergency medical dispatch) so they can determine the correct response for every call.
