All new construction must go through a permitting and review process to ensure that your plans and fire system meet Sedona’s fire code.
What types of structures are included in this requirement?
The process applies to new developments and subdivisions, fire hydrant distribution systems, water supplies, and fire apparatus access concerns. You must also submit plans for remodels and improvements. In addition, if the total floor area of your home exceeds 3,600 square feet, you are required to have a residential fire sprinkler system and we must review your plans.
What exactly do you review?
All engineering associated with fire detection and suppression systems is reviewed for compliance. Civil engineering plans are reviewed for fire-apparatus access issues concerning grades, roads, security gates, water crossings and bridges. CRM works with three building departments — Coconino and Yavapai Counties and the City of Sedona — during the plan review process because of the unique overlapping of jurisdictions within SFD boundaries.
I’m an architect or developer. How do I get help?
CRM provides fire code consultations to many architects and developers concerning fire code requirements through the development review processes of both the city and counties that it serves.
